Volunteers meet with inmates at the Southwestern Illinois Correctional Center to audiotape them reading books to their children or grandchildren. Volunteers use digital audio recorders and then burn the audio file to a CD, which is mailed to the children or grandchidren of the inmate. The StoryBook Project is sponsored by the Lutheran Church, and conducted locally by Lutheran Social Services. Steven Roswell reads a book to his son as he is recorded by the small recorder on the desk. He chose one of his son's favorites, a book in the "Percy Jackson" series of fantasy stories, entitled "The Last Olympian".
