Two men wanted by O'Fallon Police were taken into custody a few miles apart on Thursday morning. This picture shows a man who tried to hide in thick underbrush on the West Boulevard side of the Belleville East campus. The other man was taken into custody at Southwestern Illinois College (SWIC) police on the scene said. An O'Fallon officer brought the man out of the thick woods, and here he is being taken to a Belleville police squad car for transportation to the police station. Apparently the incident began in O'Fallon, with Belleville police and St. Clair County Sheriff's deputies joining in. Deputies had created a perimeter around the school grounds, blocking off access to the Carlyle Avenue entrance to Belleville East with three patrol cars. Other police cars were stationed around the school at other access points and the school went on lockdown.
