Cordell Jackson, 6, is a Whiteside Elementary School kindergartener who has Dravet's Syndrome, which is a rare form of infant epilepsy that is also known as Severe Myoclonic Epilepsy of Infancy (SMEI). Cordell started showing signs of Dravet's when he was six months old. The seizures associated with it are most often prolonged events lasting several minutes. Individuals with Dravet syndrome face a higher incidence of SUDEP (sudden unexplained death in epilepsy). Friday May 10 was Cordell's sixth birthday. Cordell places a bit of cereal in his mouth during snack time.
