The Messenger Schoolhouse inches southward on Old Collinsville Road Saturday morning to its new and final resting place in the Messenger Cemetery. Old Collinsville Road was blocked off from 8 a.m. to noon to move the old structure which is estimated to have been built in the mid-1840s. The building was still in use about 100 years later, but was eventually shuttered. Here, utility company employees have dropped a high-speed fiber optic cable television line, and will protect it with boards so the house can be driven over the wires, and into the Messenger Cemetery.
