Runners start the 4th Annual Chiro-Med Winter Luau 5K run (5 kilometers = 3.1 miles) on the Belleville campus of Lindenwood University on Saturday morning. This run had about 350 runners participating in it.  As they crossed the finish line, Hawaiian leis were placed around their neck.  First male to cross the finish line of the 5K event was Bryson Whiteside, 16, who lives in O'Fallon and is a student at O'Fallon HS where he competes on the cross-country team.  His time was 18:03.3 minutes. The first female to cross the finish line of the 5K run was Olivia Horton, 16, of Belleville, a Belleville West HS student who competes on her school's cross-country team.  Her time for the run was 21:59.3 minutes.  After this 5K event, a shorter run - "The 2nd Annual Main Street Mile"- was held, on a marked-off route along West Main Street. The two events were held as a fundraiser for Special Olympics and Get Up & Go, which promotes a healthy lifestyle.
