Dave Mauricio, 17, at left, scans apples in the bin for those that don't meet standards and gives them a quick toss out onto the ground.  Driving the farm tractor through row after row of apple trees at Eckert's Orchards in Belleville is his grandfather, Lazaro Mauricio.  The Honeycrisp variety shown here is a sweet, crisp apple good for eating, but not intended for baking.
