The City of Belleville held their 200th anniversary celebration on Saturday with live music, a laser show, and a fireworks show at Southwestern Illinois College. Thousands of people witnessed the fireworks display - either from a spot on the SWIC campus, or from vantage points at adjacent business parking lots. Many people even parked on the side of Illinois 161 and other nearby streets. Here, while still daylight, people look at the twisted metal girder that is a relic from the 9-11 attacks on the USA. The Belleville Fire Department is raising money to have a special display area for it constructed near Engine House One.
